Earlier this year I got the opportunity to shoot now reigning Miss Universe Jamaica 2014 Kaci Fennell. At the time Kaci was a budding new model making waves and preparing to travel to South Africa for a model campaign in the southern fashion industry. There was definitely no question that Kaci had what it takes to excel as a model and she proved that later in the year when she was crowned Miss Universe Jamaica. I was also fortunate to work with New York based MAC Cosmetics Director of Makeup Artistry, Romero Jennings, whose art form transformed Kaci’s face in only what could be described as amazing.
The shoot was done at the MAC Retail Store in the Sovereign Mall, Kingston, which allowed me to flex my creative muscles and set up in the space provided. At the time I did not have a beauty dish so I had to use my large Paul C. Buff octobox coupled with my Alien Bees B800 and used a large fotodiox 5-in-1 silver reflector to complete the somewhat clamshell setup. I used my Nikon D800 coupled with the Nikon 70-200 f2.8 lens to capture these images. We had a great shoot and produced the wonderful images below.
